Hi there, My name is Lisa. It's nice to meet you.

I invite you to rethink what you know about what it means to live past the age of 35.

So I'm aging, and I'm imperfect. And why on Earth did I start another blog?

I've been thinking about a lot of things as of late.

I'm here to show you that you can live a life over the age of 35 that includes the joy of being yourself, in all your imperfect glory.

What are we "supposed" to look like at 45? What SHOULD we be doing with ourselves? What does it mean to be a grown-up?

This blog is for those of us who don't know how we got here, whether we are level 35 or level 65 and beyond. I saw level 40 used instead of ___ years old (insert your age of decrepitude here!) and thought it was clever, and I'll go with that.

This space is for those of us who don't resemble what it means to be traditionally whatever age we are right now. Maybe it means never giving up your Dr. Martens and blue hair. Maybe you decide to have kids later, or maybe you've chosen to never ever have kids at all.

We're aging and doing so, imperfectly.

And that's perfectly OK! Never let anyone tell you otherwise or make you feel less than. Never let anyone make you feel as if you are too much of anything.

All too often we sell ourselves short because of doubt and fear!

This blog will hopefully be a place where you can relate, especially if you feel like an alien, an old alien. Like me. You'll be in good company.

I’m American – I live in the Pacific Northwest in Portland, OR but Los Angeles is my hometown.

I describe myself as an L.A. ex-patriate. L.A. might as well be its own country and quite possibly continent. I lived there for over 30 years and took a chance and moved to Seattle in 2007 with some friends.

Anytime I entertain the thought of moving back, I go and visit the Overheard L.A. account on IG and laugh and laugh some more. I love L.A., but I'm not sure that I could ever live there again, honestly. It's too hot and people complain about traffic in Portland and Seattle...plus I'm a parent and am not sure that I could raise kids in Los Angeles, although I turned out PERFECTLY FINE, ok?! Haha!

I'll never understand the California hate here in the Pacific Northwest and will usually make a witty retort and say something when challenged. I don't like gentrification like everyone else but the license plates that I see mostly are from the Midwest and the South lately.

Now that I got that out of the way, you should know that I'm a little bit obsessed with lingerie, pinup queens, burlesque, animal print anything and faux fur.

Many people assume that I'm all about vintage and while it does hold a special place in my heart, I'm equally inspired by avant garde, cyberpunk, and quirky things. I consider my style part goth athleisure and whatever the hell else I feel like that day. Sometimes I wake up looking like a raver on my days off and sometimes I wear donut pajamas with my thrifted Hunter rainboots.

I'm imperfect and am embracing it and I hope that you do, too. Don't expect perfectly polished anything here! Again, welcome and I hope that you subscribe and get my upcoming posts in your inbox so that you don't miss anything. ;)
